THE PASSIVITY OF THE EU TOWARDS DARFUR MAY STRONGLY AVENGE ON ITSELF

Brussels – Ivo Vajgl hosted in the European Parliament in Strasbourg the peacekeepers Tomo Križnar and Suleiman Jamous who warned the EU not to hold folded arms any longer with regard to burning problems in Darfur.

“We have to stop toasting with champagne and acting like crazy hens but do something for the humanity," called Križnar.

I brought Brdaus to the house of the EU ...

"I brought Brdaus (a brutal warrior) to the house of the EU who has not slain half of Vienna yet, but he came to tell why he was aggressive," was the purpose of the visit in Strasbourg explained by Križnar. According to his words, the aggressive man Suleiman considered as Brdaus did not come to the parliament only to make requests but to warn Europe that its arrogance may avenge on itself. According to Križnar this may be the last chance for the EU to become aware of the dimensions of the humanitarian crisis in Darfur and to realise that it is threatened by nothing less than the third world war – the war for water. Under his opinion, it could raise waves of refugees which will suffocate us as unless we take action.

Europe, the cradle of the human race, shall not allow a new world slaughtering

Europe, the cradle of the human race, shall not allow a new world slaughtering and shall not watch peacefully how two global superpowers, the USA and China, fight on the backs of the Sudanese people, warned Križnar. “Europe has to act actively, decisively and clearly and it has to show to the whole world what is happening in Africa," he emphasised.

We shall help by setting up drilling installations for the water supply

According to the words of Križnar, the EU can help with simple projects, for example by drilling installations for the water supply or by providing video surveillance which would enable the whole world to see how the people there are dying. Moreover, Križnar and Jamous presented the parliament with the action of distributing mini cameras to the Darfur’s inhabitants which should significantly limit the killing of people.

The meeting was attended by “large numbers of representatives”

The host Ivo Vajgl (ALDE/Zares) explained that meetings with two good experts on Darfur and Sudan who presented circumstances in the region and state after the recent election as well as the humanitarian catastrophe there was attended by large number of members of the European Parliament from various parties and also by the experts in this area.
